Seyed Reihani

Dr. Seyed Reihani is a Senior Research Scientist in the Socio-Technical Risk Analysis (SoTeRiA) Research laboratory in the Department of Nuclear Plasma and Radiological Engineering (NPRE).
He has over 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering, physics-of-failure modeling for materials and energy systems, catalytic combustion for power generation, fuel cell systems, diesel engines, and risk-informed system analysis. His research focuses on integrating first-principles degradation physics with probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) to enhance the realism, predictive capability, and mechanistic foundation of safety-critical system models for nuclear and advanced energy systems.
His work spans material degradation, multiscale modeling, and uncertainty-informed reliability analysis, with a strong emphasis on bridging mechanistic engineering physics and system-level risk modeling.
